EMCC Drops Two: 7-1 to UMM, 4-2 to SMCC
EMCC Men's Soccer opened up their season with a home match with the University of Maine at Machias this past Saturday on EMCC Campus.
This match marked the start of new Head Soccer Coach Eric Macdonald's tenure here at EMCC. He has had a strong group of new and returning players out for several weeks now and it was time for them to finally step on the field to face opposition from another school.
UMM had plans to ruin the season opener for the home team, and they did just that. After going into halftime with a 2-0 lead, UMM never looked back continuing to outscore the Golden Eagles by a tally of 5-1 in the second half.
Nate Wyman had his work cut out for him as UMM mustered up 45 shots at the goalkeeper. Unfortunately, Wyman could only keep 38 of them out of the back of the net. Luis Silvestre had the lone goal for the Golden Eagles on a PK.
Tyler Troup led UMM with 4 goals on the afternoon. Matt Cooley, Alfredo Palacios, and Jarico Castillo also scored a goal a piece to round out the scoring for UMM. Luis Herrera stopped 15 of 16 shots on goal.
On Sunday, EMCC traveled down to SMCC to take on the Seawolves for their second game in two days.
It was an exciting first half with EMCC and SMCC exchanging goals back and forth to knot it at 2-2. It wasn't until an own goal was scored by EMCC to put SMCC up 3-2.
Luis Silvestre and Kody Stockley each tallied a goal for EMCC. Nate Wyman had 16 saves on the day.
EMCC takes the field on Thursday against Northern Maine Community College on EMCC campus. Game time is set for 4:00 pm.
GO GOLDEN EAGLES!
